Mount Pleasant, South Carolina is like a sister city to Charleston just across the harbor. Anchoring one end of the infamous Ravenel Bridge, Mount Pleasant has lots of fun and exciting things to do; fine dining, outdoor recreation, and amazing sunset views. It’s one of my favorite places to visit in South Carolina, rivaling even Charleston itself.
Here are a few of my favorite travel photos from Mount Pleasant to show you why this town has a very special place in my heart and makes it onto my travel list every year.
The USS Yorktown at Patriots Point is a beautiful site from Wonders Way on the Ravenel Bridge.
Speaking of the bridge, it makes a nice landscape view from the bridge of the Yorktown.
Around April – September each year the sunset is on the right side of the Ravenel Bridge from the Mount Pleasant Fishing Pier.
The Ravenel Bridge is one of the most iconic subjects in the area, and fortunately there are plenty of angles to capture photos.
Pitt Street Bridge is a great place to view this boat dock with a view of downtown Charleston across the harbor.
The hangar deck on the USS Yorktown is loaded with historical aircraft.
Pelicans will fly around Shem Creek waiting for fisherman to toss scraps overboard.
Kayakers head out across Shem Creek on a warm spring day.

If you enjoy viewing wildlife you’ll have plenty of opportunity in this coastal town; pelicans, dolphins, seagulls, egrets, and herons are common.
