Tucked away on the southern edge of Keuka Lake in the Finger Lakes region of New York is the small, charming town of Hammondsport. The town is built around a central square with a park on the lake shore and serves as a hub for wine tastings, water recreation, and exploration of the region. I spent five days exploring in this town in mid-September and rarely went an hour without capturing a photo of this pleasant place.

Hammondsport is the kind of town that is always quiet, peaceful, and just downright gorgeous.
People just hang out with their dogs and enjoy the great food in town.
Did I already mention Hammondsport is gorgeous?
There are nearly a dozen restaurants in town all with delicious food like this burger from the Crooked Lake Ice Cream Company.
For dessert visit the Krooked Tusker Distillery about fifteen minutes from town for some really amazing distilled spirits.
This is the wine region, after all, so stop by Heron Hill Winery for a tasting of their fantastic wines.
Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery is a little further down the road and offers a stunning view outside the tasting room for your wine.

After all that eating and drinking you might want to hit the Finger Lakes Trail for a short hike.
Sailing and boating on Keuka Lake is just as fun as it looks here.
You can also take a guided tour with OnKeuka Water Tours and go swimming in the lake for a few minutes!
If you really want to see the lake look up Finger Lakes Seaplanes and go for a flight!
The view from the air is pretty spectacular. Did you know Keuka Lake is the only Finger Lake whose water reverses direction?
You might want to check out the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum to learn how the seaplane was invented on Keuka Lake.
Or head over to the Finger Lakes Boating Museum to learn about the rich history of boating on the Finger Lakes.
You could also just take a nice drive through the countryside and enjoy the scenery.
